Mac OS on VMware can never replace a native Windows or Mac OS installation, I mean you can increase the number of cores you allocate to the VM. But what about the limitation where the display memory gets cloaked in at 128 MB.
Some Mac users have discovered that Mail app has stopped showing attachments after updating to Mac OS Sierra, despite not having manually removed the attachments themselves. Additionally, existing emails with attachments may appear as if the email attachments disappeared entirely. The problem is that suddenly you're not in Mac OS anymore, but in Windows instead. Some also talk about using Bluestacks, which feels like a bandaid solution since technically you're not running it in Mac, but a emulator on mac. Due to increased security and permissions with Mac OS 10.14 Mojave and 10.15 Catalina, you will be prompted to authorize the Zoom Desktop Client to use the microphone, camera, and on Mac OS 10.15 Catalina, screen recording. The permissions are set within System Preferences of the device.
Unless you run a Linux system and are a bit of an expert user that does not mind getting their hand dirty to get this working. You can only use these VM mac OS to do minor software testing or get a feel of the usability of the OS before you go ahead and purchase an Apple laptop.

Before we start dissecting the issue, I would like to make sure that you have correctly followed the process of unlocking the VMware workstation player or the VMware Player.
Unlocking VMware properly –
I cannot stress enough on this. Please make sure you have the Unlocker that is correct for the version of the VMware software that you are using to install Mac OS in. I know all the unlockers look the same and have the same installation process, but every version of the VM products have an unlocker for that specific version of VMware.
In my recent tutorial on how to install mac os Catalina on Windows 10 using VMware workstation player, I've used VMware Workstation Player 15.5.6. The unlocker I have linked on my Mediafire account is specifically for this version of the VMware workstation player. If you downloaded and used these exact files, you are a step closer to solving the mac os not listed on VMware issue.
Hardware Virtualization –
As you know that we are installing the Mac OS on top of our windows 10 using the VMware software. This process is called virtualization. It eliminates the need to have real hardware that is required by applications, but instead applications like VMware create virtual hardware/environment for the applications to run.
Most of the hardware support virtualizations by default these days. You can double-check if your hardware supports virtualization in a couple of different ways.
Check if my CPU supports virtualization
Using CMD :
- Hit the 'Windows' + 'R' key and type CMD + Enter
- Enter systeminfo and Enter
- Scroll to the bottom and look for 'Hyper-V Requirements'
- Check if there is any similar information and 'Virtualization Enabled In Firmware: Yes/ No'
If you have this setting that means your CPU supports hardware virtualization
Using Intel or AMD Utility tool
Download the tools below to check it in GUI if your CPY supports virtualization.

Well, if you do not know that processor your computer/laptop has – you can download and use a third-party software called securable. At a click of a button, it shows you if your system supports Virtualization or not.
- Go to: https://www.grc.com/securable.htm
- Click on the 'Download now' button.
- After the download is complete, click on the downloaded file, and it should automatically open the application. It should look like the preview in the image below.
It tells if you if your CPU supports virtualization or not. But you have to be mindful that it just gives you whether your CPU has the virtualization feature or not. It doesn't say if it has been enabled or disabled.
Finally, as long as you use the correct unlocker for the VMware product you are using, you should be good. You should also make sure that your system supports virtualization and is enabled – you will see the Mac OS listed in VMware once both of these things are in order.

Get started
Make sure that your devices meet the requirements for using AirPlay. To use Siri to play and control video from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, add your Apple TV or AirPlay 2-compatible smart TV to the Home app and assign it to a room.
Stream video from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
- Connect your device to the same Wi-Fi network as your Apple TV or AirPlay 2-compatible smart TV.
- Find the video that you want to stream.
- Tap . In some third-party apps, you might need to tap a different icon first.* In the Photos app, tap , then tap .
- Choose your Apple TV or AirPlay 2-compatible smart TV. Need help?
To stop streaming, tap in the app that you're streaming from, then tap your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch from the list.
*Some video apps might not support AirPlay. If you can't use AirPlay with a video app, check the App Store for tvOS to see if that app is available on Apple TV.
If video automatically streams to an AirPlay device
Your device might automatically stream video to the Apple TV or AirPlay 2-compatible smart TV that you frequently use. If you open a video app and see in the upper-left corner, then an AirPlay device is already selected.
To use AirPlay with a different device, tap, then tap another device, or tap 'iPhone' to stop streaming with AirPlay.
Stream video from your Mac
- Connect your Mac to the same Wi-Fi network as your Apple TV or AirPlay 2-compatible smart TV.
- On your Mac, open the app or website that you want to stream video from.
- In the video playback controls, click .
- Select your Apple TV or smart TV. Need help?
To stop streaming video, click in the video playback controls, then choose Turn Off AirPlay.
Mirror your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
Use Screen Mirroring to see the entire screen of your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch on your Apple TV or AirPlay 2-compatible smart TV.
- Connect your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to the same Wi-Fi network as your Apple TV or AirPlay 2-compatible smart TV.
- Open Control Center:
- On iPhone X or later or iPad with iPadOS 13 or later: Swipe down from the upper-right corner of the screen.
- On iPhone 8 or earlier or iOS 11 or earlier: Swipe up from the bottom edge of the screen.
- Tap Screen Mirroring.
- Select your Apple TV or AirPlay 2-compatible smart TV from the list. Need help?
- If an AirPlay passcode appears on your TV screen, enter the passcode on your iOS or iPadOS device.
Your TV uses your iOS or iPadOS device's screen orientation and aspect ratio. To fill your TV screen with the mirrored device screen, change your TV's aspect ratio or zoom settings.
To stop mirroring your iOS or iPadOS device, open Control Center, tap Screen Mirroring, then tap Stop Mirroring. Or press the Menu button on your Apple TV Remote.
Mirror or extend your Mac display
With Apple TV or an AirPlay 2-compatible smart TV, you can mirror the entire display of your Mac to your TV or use your TV as a separate display.
- Connect your Mac to the same Wi-Fi network as your Apple TV or AirPlay 2-compatible smart TV.
- On your Mac, click in the menu bar at the top of your screen. If you don't see , go to Apple menu > System Preferences > Displays, then select 'Show mirroring options in the menu bar when available.'
- Choose your Apple TV or AirPlay 2-compatible smart TV. Need help?
- If an AirPlay passcode appears on your TV screen, enter the passcode on your Mac.
Change settings or stop mirroring
To change the size of your desktop mirrored on your TV, click in the menu bar. Then select Mirror Built-in Display to match the size of your desktop or Mirror Apple TV to match the size of your TV.
AirPlay also lets you use your TV as a separate display for your Mac. Just click in the menu bar, then select Use As Separate Display.
To stop mirroring or using your TV as a separate display, click in the menu bar, then choose Turn AirPlay Off. Or press the Menu button on your Apple TV Remote.
